Packham Pear alla prima

I have been a member of the website Dailypaintworks.com for a while and couldn't resist buying a fantastic painting from http://rafaelrochajr.blogspot.com/ . I have now just subscribed to www.dailypaintiworks.com to show my still life paintings, and this one is included in my gallery on the site.

Packham Pear Study

Alla prima still life oil study of a pear. Pears have alot of individuality. When choosing pears to paint I study them carefully in the shop to find the best shape and colour, and it needs to be one that will stand up. Other shoppers must think I'm being over fussy!

Pomegranate

Small alla prima study of a Pomegranate. I love the deep red colour of pomegranates, and they are surprisingly heavy. I've been drinking alot of pomegranate juice lately!

Horse In Monotone

I would do more paintings of horses, but finding horses to photograph is difficult.

This is a study in almost monotone, which I hadn't initially intended at first, but I decided to leave it like that as I was painting.

When it was finished, I kept thinking that something wasn't quite right but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then I realised what it was- it hasn't got any ears!

Well maybe they're somewhere in the fluffy hair.

Havergate Hare

I travelled to Havergate Island nature reserve in April, which is a place where hares can be seen. Here is a study of one of the hares from the Island.

Still Life Realism

I've now completed this still life realism piece, and have decided that I'm not going to do such a complicated cut glass again! I will be doing more glass objects though, as I love the distortions that come through.

Still Life Realism - Work in progress

What I really want to do is some still life realism which take more time to do.

This is a work in progress picture of the piece I am working on at the moment, and it has quite a bit of work to do on it yet. I'll post a picture of the finished piece when it's done.
