Plum with Paint
I thought I'd mix fruit with something else this time, and a tube of paint it is. I chose blue as it always goes well with violet I think.

Packham Pear
New packham pear painting. I used a new technique for getting tiny dots on the surface of the pear for this one. I'm really pleased at how it turned out.

First exhibition with paintings
I just finished my first exhibition where I have exhibited my oil pantings. It was over 3 days and was in the lovely setting of an old church in a picturesque English village. The Right Honorable John Bercow, the Speaker of the House of Commons in Parliament was at the opening night.
I also exhibited kiln formed glass bowls which sold well.

Lemons
I wanted to do another lemon painting after the first one, even though I found painting a cut lemon was more tricky than I first thought.

This time I wanted to do a pear with alot more of those brown areas that are
sometimes on pears.

Blush Pear
I was asked by a collector of my pears if I might be doing a blush pear, which was great as I've had a break from pears for a while. I was really pleased with how it turned out. I ate it afterwards, and it was so juicy and gorgeous I went out next day and bought lots more.

Red Wine
I've been meaning to do a glass of wine for ages, and finally got round to it. I put a blackberry with it rather than the obvious grapes, as full bodied red wine is often described as having notes of blackberry.

Red Onion
This is a study of a red onion which had started to sprout. I felt like another light background this time.

Red Grapefruit
New subject for me, red grapefruit. They taste far nicer than normal grapefruits. I painted it whole and then cut it in half and painted the half. Then I squeezed it and drank it!

3 Plums
My latest finished painting is 3 plums. It's been a while since I did a grey background. It gives more of a contemporary look rather than the traditional dark background of the old Dutch still lifes.

Glass Cup with Teaspoon
Painting transparent things is totally different from painting solid fruit, lots of subtle reflections.

Wine Bottle with Orange
I wanted to paint a dark wine bottle, but as I paint against dark backgrounds I decided to lighten the background a bit to show the bottle better.
Also shown framed on the right, which shows how the frame can really set the painting off.

Blue Jug
I bought this old pottery glazed jug from Etsy. It is actually white, but when I painted it as white it looked too harsh against the dark background. So I waited for it to dry (which took several days as white takes ages to dry!) and then changed it by putting a transparent blue glaze all over and then it looked much better.

Red Onions Alla Prima
I love the shine and colour of red onions, so had to buy a bag and paint them. All those lines were a bit tricky!
